Guru Nanak Jayanti
Celebrating the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder , first Guru of the Sikh religion.
Guru "Nanak" was born in Nankana Sahib is the most important religious site for the Sikh religion.

Nanak is said to have travelled far and wide across Asia teaching people the message of ik onkar (ੴ, 'one God'), 
Through popular tradition, Nanak's teaching is understood to be practised in three ways:
Vand Shhako (share & consume food'),
Kirat Karo (Work honestly),
Naam Japo (Recite God name)

Gurpurab celebrations begin at least two days in advance with the Akhand Path 48-hour-long, non-stop reading of the Guru Granth Sahib(Holy book of the Sikhs)

The day prior to the Guru Nanak Jayanti , Nagarkirtan a procession of Guru Granth Sahib in a palanquin, led by Panj Pyaras (Five Beloved Ones) , devotees singing hymns and 'Gatka' (martial art) are performed.
 
On Guru Nanak Jayanti , Kirtan, Path, Ardas -
Gurbani(speech of wisdom) , Recitation and prayer.
Karah Parsad and Langar (Distribution of food) are done .
At night Colourful fireworks fill the sky above the illuminated Golden Temple in Amritsar.
